Allergy Testing

We are all surrounded by substances that can cause allergic reactions. Allergy testing is the process used to determine which particular substances are responsible for an allergic reaction.

Some of the symptoms associated with allergies may include:

  • Skin rashes
  • Swelling
  • Sneezing and running nose
  • Watery, red, itchy eyes
  • Asthma
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Anaphylaxis - (a severe allergic reaction, which can cause dangerous breathing problems)

Before any allergy tests are considered, your Moontides NCM will complete an assessment that will include:

  • Your complete Medical history
  • Clinical symptoms and when they occur
  • Possible allergy triggers in your environment
  • Any medicines you are already taking

Allergy tests can determine which substance or substances are causing the allergy. These tests may include:

  • Allergen-specific IgE blood tests (RAST)
  • Elimination diets (elimination diets take a number of weeks to complete)
